Below is a calendar of our upcoming trainings and support group meetings. If you would like to attend any of the trainings or meetings, please RSVP to Brenda at brenda@adoptionpriorities.com or (210) 494-2160. A reservation is required.


Fees: No fees for families in our Forever Families Programs

$25.00 per person for PFACT or PFACT Follow-up for families in our Creating Families and International Families Programs

$5.00 donation per adult (regardless of program) for snacks and drinks at all trainings and support group meetings is appreciated.

Description and Dates of Trainings:

API Orientation - Come learn about our policies and procedures for conducting your foster care and/or adoption case. We will go over the API handbook, expectations, forms and paperwork required as well as providing training on mandatory topics such as water safety and SIDS. You must take this class prior to your home being approved/verified for a foster care, foster to adopt or straight adoption case. Not required for Creating, Transitioning or International Families programs.

Parenting the Foster and Adopted Child Training (PFACT)- This is required training for families going through the Forever Families program and optional (in lieu of or to complement other required trainings) for families in our other programs. This class must be taken prior to your home being approved or verified. This training focuses on loss and grief, attachment, parenting the adopted child, discipline, trauma related behaviors, and more.

June 15, 2013 from 9-5     September 21, 2013 from 9-5        December 7, 2013 from 9-5

PFACT Follow-up - This is required training for families going through the Forever Families program and optional (in lieu of or to complement other required trainings) for all other families. This trainings expands on some topics covered in PFACT including the Love Languages of children and promoting deeper attachment through love-based parenting. This training must be taken prior to your home being approved or verified and can also be counted toward your annual training hours for foster care or foster to adopt.

Support Group Meetings - These are open to all families of API and their children. There
will be a group for parents and a separate group for children. Topics will vary. Attendance
will count toward annual training requirements for foster and foster to adopt.

Upcoming CEU's Offered by API

These classes are designed for Social Workers, therapists, and case workers/managers however families may also sign up!  All training sessions will be held at the API office, 14400 Northbrook Dr, San Antonio TX on the date listed below from 9am to 4pm. All classes are $50.00 per person ($60.00 at the door).
