Amanda, Mitchell, Oksana and Anthony Way
In 2005, the Way family had a vision of starting an adoption agency that would focus on the needs of adoptive parents who were going through the adoption process. It was their desire to provide education, training and support for these families so that the lives of the children who they adopted would be forever positively altered. The Ways knew that adoption is not for the faint at heart, it requires courage, organization, a release of control and patience and they wanted to help families navigate the sometimes rocky road of the adoption journey. It was through their own experiences with adoption, then and now, that they have come to realize the importance of support for the adoptive family in making the life of a child a success. So in 2005, they set out on a journey to start an adoption agency. At the beginning, Amanda, a licensed social worker, completed home studies and post-placement reports for families adopting internationally and then expanded to provide home study services to families working with Child Protective Services. Later as the agency grew, services were expanded to include programs in domestic and CPS adoptions as well as assisting families who were adopting relatives. Since 2005, Adoption Priorities, Inc. has completed more than 4000 homestudies for CPS and helped almost 200 families complete private adoptions by providing a variety of services in their adoption process including the homestudy, adoption education, matching and referrals of children, post-placement monitoring and more.
In 2012, Adoption Priorities, Inc. was granted approval from Child Protective Services to provide foster to adopt and foster care services to families wishing to provide for children in the foster care system by either opening their home temporarily or adopting a foster child. Adoption Priorities, Inc. sees this expansion as an extension of our James 1:27 commission to "take care of orphans in their time of distress".
Adoption Priorities, Inc (API) was founded based on the principles of providing consistent and ethical adoption practices to families and children. Providing placement for a child through foster care or adoption is one of the most rewarding endeavors one chooses to make in life and it is important to be able to trust the agency assisting you in the process. We, at Adoption Priorities, Inc., have dedicated our life's work to assisting families through the foster care and adoption process and hope in doing so that they may have cherished memories of the beginning of a remarkable journey.
Amanda Way, MLS, LBSW, LCPAA Founder & President
API’s founder, Amanda Way began her professional adoption experience in
1996 as a caseworker for Children’s Protective Services in San Antonio,
TX. During this time, she worked with abused and neglected children in
the foster care system to find permanent homes for them. Amanda worked
with approximately 900 families to try to resolve the issues that
brought the children to the attention of CPS. After six years of
dedication to the US foster care system, Amanda decided to apply her
knowledge to the area of international adoption. For nearly four years,
she served as the Executive Director of an international placing agency
assisting over 200 families through the entire adoption process, from
application to post-placement! However, her real experience with
adoption began when she and her husband adopted two children from
Russia!! Their first adoption was of a special needs child and the
second adoption was of an older child. These two adoptions have left her
with a more realistic perspective of the adoption experience than most
professionals. She understands the emotional rollercoaster and financial
investment foster and adoptive parents make when adopting a child. Amanda can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
